LIA WOUTERS, MITCH, LYNN & JOHN VERMEIREN
John has nearly 40 years of experience in growing tomatoes! His parents were tomato growers and were pioneers in switching to soil substrate for more sustainable and efficient growing. John started VW Tuinderijen in the 80’s, and later took on Meer Fresh Products and VW Maxburg. Lia joined as cultivation manager for VW Tuinderijen, and their son Mitch joined the family business in 2017 as location manager for both Meer Fresh Products and VW Maxburg. Daughter Lynn joined the company in 2020 as cultivation manager at VW Maxburg.
John: ‘Did you know the French believed the tomato is an aphrodisiac? They nicknamed it ’pomme d’amour. I can only agree, as I met my wife Lia in the greenhouse!’
Mitch: ‘My delicious recipe: sliced Coeur de Boeuf, grilled in the oven with olive oil, salt & pepper.’
